SMS alerts & phone verification

Verify your mobile and your organization's phone with a 6-digit SMS code, then send automatic order texts: a new-order alert to your team and order-confirmed and delivered texts to customers, with a full message log.

LogAI can text you and your customers about orders — no SMS account to set up; texts go out from LogAI's registered sender. Two pieces work together: phone verification, which confirms a mobile number with a 6-digit code, and Settings → Mail → SMS Alerts, where you choose which order texts go out and see a log of every one. Texts currently reach Indian (+91) mobile numbers only.

Two numbers you can verify

NumberWho verifies itWhat it's for
Your mobile (the Contact Number on your Profile)Every user, for themselvesConfirms the number on your profile is really yours. Verifying it doesn't switch on any SMS by itself.
The organization phone (the Contact Number on Settings → General → Organization)Super admins onlyThe number that receives the New order text. Team order alerts stay paused until it's verified.

The number you verify becomes the saved Contact Number — your own on your Profile, or the organization's on the Organization settings page. Verification belongs to that exact number: if anyone later edits it, it's unverified again until someone confirms the new one.

The verification strip

While you have a number to verify, a strip runs above the header on every page with a Verify now button (Verify on a phone). It reads Verify your mobile number (“Keeps your account secure. Takes about 30 seconds.”), Verify your organization's phone (“Notifications are paused until it's verified.”), or both together for a super admin who has both left. Clicking it walks through your mobile first, then the organization phone, in one sitting. When the last one is done the strip shows “You're all set. Verified.” and disappears.

  • Who sees it — every user whose own mobile is unverified; only super admins are asked about the organization phone.
  • Only where a text can arrive — if the number on file is a valid Indian (+91) number, you're asked to verify it. If there's no number yet, you're asked only when the organization is India-based (country set to India, or no country set and the currency is INR). A non-Indian number on file is never nagged about, since a code couldn't reach it.
  • Numbers saved without a country code are read as Indian, so a 10-digit number already on your profile is treated as +91.

You can also verify from beside each Contact Number field: on your Profile and on Settings → General → Organization a small badge shows Verified (hover for the date), Verify or Add & verify. Team members who aren't super admins see Unverified beside the organization's number, with the note “Only a super admin can verify the organization's phone.”

Verify a number

  1. Enter the mobile number. Open the dialog from the strip, the badge, or the SMS Alerts page. The Mobile number field has a fixed +91 prefix — type or paste the 10 digits (pasting +91, a leading 0 or spaces is fine). Indian mobile numbers start with 6, 7, 8 or 9; landlines and toll-free numbers can't receive SMS and are refused. Click Send code.
  2. Enter the 6-digit code. A text arrives with a 6-digit code. Type or paste it — it checks itself as soon as all six digits are in, or click Verify. The code lasts 10 minutes; a countdown shows “Code expires in 9:59”. Use Change or Back to fix the number.
  3. Resend if it doesn't arrive. Resend code unlocks after 45 seconds (the button counts down: Resend in 0:45). Sending a new code cancels the previous one, so always use the latest text.
  4. Done. You'll see Number verified or Organization phone verified. If the strip opened both, the button reads Next: organization phone; otherwise Done.

SMS Alerts settings

Open Settings → Mail → SMS Alerts (/settings/notifications/sms-alerts), or search “SMS Alerts” in the command palette. The top card, Order alerts by SMS, shows the Organization phone with a Verify (or Add) button and a status pill: Live (team alerts going out), Team alerts paused (the organization phone isn't verified), Team alerts off (the New order switch is off), or SMS unavailable.

AlertGoes toSent when
New order (For your team)The verified organization phoneAn order comes in: orders created in LogAI at the Point of Sale as soon as they're created (any payment method), storefront Cash on Delivery orders when placed, and storefront prepaid orders once the payment succeeds.
Order confirmed (For your customers)The customer's phone numberThe same moments — at the POS, by COD, or once paid online. Thanks the customer and lists the order number, items and value.
Order delivered (For your customers)The customer's phone numberThe order is marked Delivered — by you, or by your courier's tracking when courier shipping updates the order.
  • All three are on by default. Flip a switch to stop that text; the change saves instantly. Only super admins can change the switches — others see “Only super admins can change these”.
  • Preview message under each alert shows the exact wording, with the parts that change per order (order number, amount, items, store name) highlighted.
  • The customer's number comes from the lead or customer record on the order. No number, or a non-Indian or landline number, means no text — the log says why.
  • Rupee amounts only — New order and Order confirmed quote the amount in Rs., so they go out only for orders in INR.
  • Never twice — each alert is sent at most once per order, even if the order's status bounces back or the payment is confirmed twice.
  • No text for other statuses — there's no SMS for shipped, out for delivery, cancelled or refunded orders. Those are covered by the order emails sent through your SMTP settings.
  • Product names are shortened to fit the approved SMS template (“Cotton Kurta x2, +1 more”), and emoji or accented letters are simplified to plain text.

Usage and the message log

Four tiles sit under the top card: Sent today against your organization's daily limit of order texts (shown on the tile; the day starts at midnight UTC — 5:30 am in India), and Delivered, Failed and Skipped over the last 30 days. Verification codes don't count toward the limit. Once the limit is hit, further alerts that day are skipped with “Daily limit reached”.

The Message log lists every order alert — including the ones deliberately not sent — newest first, 15 per page. Filter with All, Sent, Failed or Skipped. Each row shows the alert, the order number, the masked recipient (+91 ••••••3210) and whether it went to the Organization phone or a Customer. Hover a Failed badge for the network's reason. Skipped rows show why:

Skip reasonWhy the text wasn't sent
Alert turned offThat alert's switch is off.
Org phone not verifiedThe New order text needs a verified organization phone. Verify it at the top of the page.
No phone numberThe organization or the customer has no usable phone number.
Non-INR orderThe order isn't in rupees, so the amount can't be quoted.
Non-Indian numberThe recipient's number isn't a +91 number.
Not a mobile numberThe number is a landline or toll-free number.
Daily limit reachedYour organization already sent its daily limit of order texts (see the Sent today tile).
SMS not set upTexting is temporarily unavailable on LogAI's side.

Access

The SMS Alerts page and its log need the Notification permission (View) — set per role in Manage your team. Changing the alert switches and verifying the organization phone are for super admins only. Every user can verify their own mobile.

Frequently asked questions

Why am I seeing a Verify your mobile number strip at the top of every page?

Your own mobile number isn't verified yet. Click Verify now, enter your 10-digit mobile number and the 6-digit code we text you. The strip disappears once you're verified.

Why aren't I getting new-order texts?

The New order alert only goes to a verified organization phone. Open Settings → Mail → SMS Alerts: if the status says Team alerts paused, a super admin needs to verify the organization phone; if it says Team alerts off, turn the New order switch on. The Message log shows the reason for every skipped text.

I changed our organization's contact number and alerts stopped. Why?

Verification belongs to the exact number that received the code. Editing the number makes it unverified, so team alerts pause until a super admin verifies the new number.

Do customers get a text when their order ships?

No. Customers get an Order confirmed text when the order is placed and an Order delivered text when it's delivered. Shipped and out-for-delivery updates go by email.

Can I verify a number outside India?

Not yet. Verification codes and order texts go to Indian (+91) mobile numbers only. Organizations outside India aren't asked to verify unless an Indian number is on file.

I didn't receive the code. What now?

Wait 45 seconds and click Resend code. Each new code cancels the previous one. You can request 5 codes an hour and 12 a day; after that, try again in an hour.

Do I need my own SMS provider or DLT registration?

No. Texts go out from LogAI's registered sender using pre-approved templates, so there's nothing to set up beyond verifying your organization phone.

Who can turn SMS alerts on or off?

Only super admins. Anyone with the Notification view permission can open the page and read the log.
